Capability deep-dive

Built for draughting work, not consumer hype

Every DraughtAI capability comes from work that Brian McCallum Draughting actually carries out for UK practices, contractors and engineers — and the standards that work has to meet.

01 · Sketch & photo → DWG

From hand sketch to clean DWG, layered correctly

Upload a hand sketch, marked-up survey or site photograph. DraughtAI vectorises walls, openings, fixtures and external furniture, then writes them to your office's standard layer set with correct line weights and colours.

  • Source: PNG, JPG, PDF, SVG, hand-drawn or scanned
  • Output: DWG (AutoCAD 2018), DXF, vector PDF
  • Layers mapped to your office template (BS, AIA or custom)
  • Wall thickness inferred and editable per element
  • Returns an editable change log with every generation

02 · Brief → title block & sheet set

Describe the job. DraughtAI lays out the sheets.

Type or paste a project brief in plain English. DraughtAI returns a complete A1/A3 sheet set — title block, scale bar, north arrow, revision schedule, drawing register — pre-populated and ready for your draughtsperson to fill in detail.

  • Title block to BS 8888 §6 conventions
  • Auto numbering: project, sheet, revision, suitability code
  • Signed-off-by / checked-by fields wired to your team roster
  • Customisable office variant — colours, logo, font, margins

03 · Auto-dimension & hatching

Dimension chains and material hatching, applied as editable blocks

DraughtAI suggests dimension chains, centre lines, hidden detail and material hatching consistent with ISO 128. Every annotation is placed as an editable AutoCAD block on the correct layer — never as raster.

  • Dimension chain inference, including running and chained dimensions
  • Material hatching: brick, blockwork, concrete, insulation, timber
  • Section line and view callouts, BS 8888 conventions
  • Re-runnable: change a wall thickness, dimensions update

04 · Drawing standards converter

Bring legacy drawings into your office template — in bulk

Inherited a hundred drawings from another consultant? DraughtAI re-bases title block, layer naming, line weights, font and dimension style across the entire pack in one batch — without re-drafting.

  • Bulk DWG / DXF / PDF input (zip up to 2 GB)
  • Map source layers to your office layer convention
  • Title block re-applied, project number bulk-replaced
  • Per-sheet diff PDF for the reviewer

05 · Compliance pre-check

Catch missing dimensions and standards violations before issue

Drawings nearing issue go through an automated check that flags missing dimensions, sections without callouts, inconsistent line weights, font violations and CDM-relevant gaps.

  • BS 8888 / ISO 128 / ISO 19650 rule packs
  • Per-sheet checklist with severity levels
  • One-click "fix it" suggestions on each finding
  • Audit log signed by the reviewer (Studio plan and above)
