Product & AI
What does DraughtAI actually do?
It produces draft technical drawings — DWG, DXF and PDF — from sketches, photos or written briefs, with title block, dimensions, hatching and section conventions applied to BS 8888 / ISO 128 by default.
Is the output suitable for construction?
No, not without review. DraughtAI output is a draft. Drawings must be reviewed and signed off by a qualified draughtsperson, structural engineer or architect before issue for tender or construction. The same expectation applies to drawings produced by junior staff in any practice.
Which AI models does DraughtAI use?
DraughtAI combines our own classical computer-vision pipeline (vectorisation, geometry inference) with frontier large language models accessed via API for natural-language understanding. Specific subprocessors are listed in our privacy policy.
Can DraughtAI generate images of people, faces or political figures?
No. DraughtAI is a technical drawing tool. Generation of human likenesses, photorealistic imagery, deepfakes or any non-engineering content is out of scope and explicitly prohibited by our acceptable-use policy.
Can it produce an existing copyrighted set of drawings I scanned?
No. You must hold the rights to whatever you upload. By submitting a file you warrant that you are the rights-holder or have permission to process it. See terms of service §6.
Data protection & privacy
Where are my drawings stored?
Files are stored in the United Kingdom region of our cloud provider (AWS eu-west-2, London). Encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3).
How long are uploads kept?
30 days by default. You can delete any file from the customer portal at any time — deletion is immediate and irreversible.
Do you train AI models on my drawings?
No. Customer drawings are processed only to fulfil the requested job. They are never used to train, fine-tune, evaluate or improve any model — ours or a subprocessor's. Subprocessor contracts forbid the same.
Are you UK GDPR compliant?
Yes. Brian McCallum Draughting Ltd is the data controller. Subprocessors are listed at privacy.html. ICO registration is in progress; certificate available on request.
Can I sign a Data Processing Agreement?
Yes. A standard UK GDPR-compliant DPA is available on request for Studio and Enterprise customers. Email support@mccallumdraughting.com.
Billing & refunds
What does a subscription cost?
Solo £29/month, Studio £199/month, Enterprise custom. Pay-as-you-go is £5 per drawing. All prices are in GBP and exclusive of VAT — see pricing.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. 7 days, 5 drawings, no card required. The trial does not auto-convert to a paid plan.
Who processes my payment?
All card payments are processed by Stripe Payments UK Ltd., a PCI DSS Level 1 provider regulated by the FCA. UK SCA (3D Secure) is enforced on every transaction.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from your account dashboard or by emailing billing@mccallumdraughting.com. Your subscription stays active to the end of the paid period.
What's your refund policy?
7-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscriptions. After that, unused months are refunded pro-rata on cancellation. Full details in our refund policy.
Do you issue VAT invoices?
Yes. A VAT-compliant invoice is emailed after each payment, also available in the customer portal. UK VAT is applied at 20%; EU OSS is handled automatically.
Will I be charged again after cancellation?
No. Cancellation stops all future charges. Stripe also enforces this for us.
CAD & standards
Which file formats can I import?
JPG, PNG, PDF, SVG, DWG, DXF, TIF. Up to 50 MB per file (Solo/Studio) or 2 GB per zipped batch (Studio/Enterprise).
Which file formats can I export?
DWG (AutoCAD 2018), DXF, vector PDF and PNG raster preview.
Will the DWG open in BricsCAD / DraftSight / ZWCAD?
Yes — output is tested in AutoCAD 2018+, BricsCAD, DraftSight, ZWCAD and LibreCAD before each release.
Can I use my own office template?
Yes. Upload a DWT or DWG and DraughtAI will use it as the base for new drawings. Studio plan includes a shared team library.
Does it support metric & imperial units?
Yes. UK practice defaults to metric (mm). Imperial is available where required for export work.
